Tapi Sauvignon Blanc 2014
The 2014 Tapi Sauvignon Blanc is grown and made using organic principles. The fruit is 100% single vineyard, single ferment. The vineyard is centrally located in Marlborough’s Wairau Valley floor on medium loam over alluvial river gravels.
Typical of the Wairau Valley, this wine displays ripe tropical, passion fruit and guava notes. The nose is apparent but not overt. The wine was rested on fine lees to give body and richness. The aromatic fruits carry through the palate finishing with juicy lime acidity. This wine is made to drink now but will develop under careful cellaring for up to three years.
Tapi Pinot Noir 2014
The 2014 Tapi Pinot Noir is grown and made using organic principles. It was handpicked from low yielding vines and is equal parts clones 777, 667, 115, 10/5 and Abel all co-fermented. This gives the wine depth and complexity of flavour. Fermented in a French oak cuve provided a consistent warm temperature throughout ferment to deliver an enhanced extraction of colour, aroma and flavour. The wine was matured for 12 months in French oak barriques to allow the tannins to soften. One in five barrels were new to provide toasty, sweet and savoury notes.
This wine is vibrant deep red in colour and displays red fruits, spices, a slight herbal note and toasty oak. The palate consists of rich dark cherries, sweet oak, spices, silky tannins and fine acid. The mouth feel is broad and persistent. It will drink well now but will continue to gain complexity and develop with careful cellaring up to 10 years.
